It’s Been a While, But We Haven’t Stopped!

NAME CHANGE!

Did you notice? It’s a small change, but one we hope will make a big impact, especially with potential donors who come across our cause through social media or search engines.

From the onset, our mission has been to raise funds for the extremely underfunded cancer research for children. So it only makes sense to add “Children’s” to our Endowment name.

Introducing:

CAROLINE SYMMES CHILDREN’S CANCER ENDOWMENT

We Have a New $1.5 Million Commitment at Riley Children’s Foundation

At the beginning of this year, we began contributing to a newly established $1.5 million gift to the Caroline Symmes Endowment for Pediatric Cancer Research at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health. This endowed fund will be used to research all types of childhood cancers, which is essential since cancer remains the #1 cause of death by disease for children in America.

We will continue to support Dr. Jamie Renbarger, as our Endowed Chair, and her Precision Genomics Program at Riley Children’s Health, through our renamed endowed fund, Caroline Symmes Chair in Pediatric Cancer Research. We know how important this Non-Central Nervous System Solid Tumor program is and the cutting-edge genome-based research Dr. Renbarger and her team are doing. We are proud that since 2014, we have contributed $3.3 million to this fund.

Less than 5% of the federal government’s total funding for cancer research is dedicated to childhood cancers each year. We are thrilled that we are beginning to fund research for all pediatric cancers, since it is so needed; and it is all because of the support from our generous donors.

A Note from David and Libby

We wanted to let you know about a change within our family. It is with thoughtful consideration and mutual respect that we have made the difficult decision to end our marriage. Our priority will always be our children, Natalie and Sully, and to continue to raise them in a happy and loving environment.

We remain as dedicated as ever to this Endowment that we started together. With Caroline, we experienced first-hand the lack of critical funding needed to research childhood cancers. We made a promise to fight for Caroline, and we are committed to keeping that promise and taking this Endowment to new heights.

Although our decision comes with a great deal of sadness, we are comforted to be surrounded by the love and support of our friends and community.
