After much discussion with our Endowment’s Board of Directors and a number of long-time donors, we have decided because of the small number of ticket sales to date, it is most prudent to cancel Barreling for Research scheduled for November 5th.
Hosting a fundraising gala is always costly, and with the addition of rising event-related costs associated with putting on events like this, ticket sales are vital to offset the expenses.
The Endowment has been fortunate this year, in that our donors have been generous with their giving, and we cannot justify the loss of money we are anticipating if we move forward.
Instead, we are going to go back to the drawing board; large fundraising events may not be something our donors and supporters are interested in attending.
We are going to take our time to re-evaluate, strategize and work to create different sorts of events that may be more appealing.
The Caroline Symmes Children’s Cancer Endowment’s mission is to raise money for research of all childhood cancers and we are hopeful that you understand why losing money on an event is not something we can or want to do.
We appreciate your support, and as we get closer to the end of this year, please think about our Endowment as you make decisions for end of year contributions!
